MANIC MARATHON WEEKEND IN LONDON AND VIENNA

The whole of the DRC community would like to congratulate all 6 of our athletes who took on the London and Vienna Marathons yesterday.

Danielle is no stranger to marathon running having done many over the years, but London was all about running fast and maximising a brilliant build. She managed a really strong time of 3:27:26 which is an 11 minute PB

Jen took on London 3 1/2 years after she intended. A very consistent run which was better and more controlled than her previous PB (a short Brighton course) improving by nearly a minute in 4.50.55

Simon ran his debut marathon following a really solid marathon build clocking an impressive 4.02.13

Tariq came to us to improve on his 4.20 previous marathon. After a staggered training block with a swollen ankle and a 4 week fasting period with Ramadan he negotiated and executed a brilliant race plan to finish with a 38 minute PB in 3.42

Isabella ran the Vienna City Marathon for the 2nd year and executed her race plan to perfection despite the unexpected 22 degree heat and managed a fantastic 2 minute PB of 3:56:15

Lana posted her 2nd fastest marathon last week in Manchester having suffered an Achilles injury in her final month of training. Yesterday in London was all about charity, enjoyment, emotion and completion as she raised money following the passing of one of her close friends recently. Another sub 4 clocking and we couldn’t be prouder

PB'S GALORE FOR DRC ATHLETES AT THE FLEET 1/2 MARATHON

What a fantastic race for some of our DRC athletes yesterday!

- Tim B arrived at this race fresh off the back of a solid run in the Eastleigh 10K the week before to storm to a PB and shave over 3 minutes off his time from the Farnborough Winter 1/2 Marathon in January. Tim clocked a very impressive and a really strong time of 1.24.55.👏🏻

- Danielle ran her first half marathon, as part of her preparation for the London Marathon in April and ran a fantastic time of 1.35.36 (a PB!) and was 41st woman!👏🏻

- Mark went into this race in great shape and it’s fair to say he didn’t hang around and smashed his previous PB from last year by almost 7 minutes coming over the line in 1.42.56. 👏🏻

- Having entered, Rich decided to test his fitness having carried a slight groin issue into this race and see what was possible. He made the call at 8 miles still feeling good. Test complete. 👏🏻

Well done to these guys and huge thanks to the rest of the DRC crew for their on/off course support - we are so lucky to have such a strong, supportive community.

COACH BRIAN FINISHES TOP 10 AT THE BRITISH MATSERS CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPS

Following his first cross-country season for 15 years, Coach Brian has yet again pulled on his spikes and headed out onto the mud, grass and hills and put together a really strong run of performances for Aldershot, Farnham and District AC in the Hampshire League, Hampshire Champs and now the British Masters Cross-Country Champs.

Held at Wallsend in Newcastle, the long journey was well worth it, as Coach Brian battled hard through the challenging conditions and 8km hilly course to finish 9th V40 in his race, rounding off a fantastic return to racing over this discipline.

It goes without saying that the DRC community are so proud of his efforts and love seeing him running well and showing how it's done!

EMMA AND LANA RUN STRONG OVER THE 1/2 MARATHON

In part of her preparation for another Brighton Marathon, Emma produced yet another Half Marathon PB in Wokingham. Having reduced her PB to 1.44.30 at Farnborough in January, she attacked the race from the start and reduced her time further to 1.40.10. An incredible improvement by 6 minutes this year. This is made all the more impressive as there was very little taper and a lot of marathon training miles in her legs. Well done Emma, we couldn’t be prouder.

After her incredible marathon exploits last autumn, Lana goes again in Manchester and London this spring. We decided to include the Great Bentley Half Marathon as part of her prep and she did not disappoint. Having targeted a sub 1.40 she smashed her old PB by nearly 2 minutes with a speedy 1.37.36. We wish Lana the very best of luck for her back to back marathons this year and a restful summer to follow. Well done Lana, a real inspiration to the rest of the DRC community.

STRONG RUNNING AT THE FLEET 5K AND 10K BY DRC ATHLETES

The best thing about community is the people. Thank you to our pacers, supporters and helpers for giving up their time in helping others achieve their goals.

CJ ran her first 5km since coming back from injury and with the help of Rich came home in one of her best times of 30.14

Ryan was racing his first ever 10km and again with Rich on pacing duties ran a brilliantly consistent 1.01

Joshila has PB’d in pretty much everything she has raced this year. A 10km improvement of over 10 mins on Sunday, her time now stands at 51.19 with excellent pacing by Andy.

Timmy has been struggling with one of those annoying niggles recently but not enough for him to perform close to his best. A 10km time of 40.13 running controlled is definitely a positive step in the right direction

Alex started training with us 3 weeks ago. He has targeted a 10km PB and equalled his best ever time of 1.11 at Fleet. Well done Alex 👊🏻

Charlie, fresh from his brilliant 1.43 HM debut attempted a 10km PB and didn’t disappoint. A fresh and fast 46.58 which is more than 2 1/2 mins improvement since he started with us in June

Mark has been making big inroads into his 10km times in recent years. When he started with us 3 years ago his best was 55.41. After a glut of improvements his best now stands at 46.20, nearly 9 1/2 mins!!!!

Also a big shout out to Von who trained with us earlier in the year and ran close to her best with 45.53 and 19th female.

Well done to Zoe and Sally who took part in our 5 week race ready package and achieved their goal of 5km.

Holly ran in the 5km too, having started group sessions with us last month. Well done Holly!

DRC ATHLETES SHINE BRIGHT IN LONDON MARATHON

London Marathon 2022 you didn’t disappoint.

6 DRC athletes toed the start line and all totally smashed it.

- Chloe - 4.39 and looked strong the entire way. Just missed a PB but she has come on so much this year as an athlete

- Ben - a calf issue meant we had 11 weeks to do the business. An huge 8 minute PB of 3.43 was the result and was so consistent and strong to 21 miles. An awesome achievement

- Lana - suffered with a cold in the few days leading up to the marathon and we were unsure of what to expect. She gave it everything for a 4 minute PB and a qualification for Boston in 3.35

- Rich - ankle surgery and still on crutches 10 months ago. Ankle was an issue this block and he showed unreal resilience to finish in 4.48. Until the next time

- Emma - had 2 marathons taken away from her through Covid and got to the start line after a short build around work commitments. She smashed her 4.30 target with 4.27

- Graham - starting training for a marathon from scratch 6 months ago. Incredibly Graham never missed a run and showed character and tenacity for a brilliant 5.53 clocking in his first marathon

All of these athletes used bespoke training plans designed by us and felt huge benefit from our growing supportive community. We are so proud and wish them the very best for their next training block and future races.

So this happened today. Rob only goes and runs a huge marathon PB of 18 minutes to 3.36

Against all odds when it was easier to bail…

- First 17 miles on his own
- Not the flattest of courses
- 6 loops
- Richmond Marathon cancelled after original prep
- Longest taper in history
- Had a cold all week

This guy is made of steel, strong in the body and mind and an inspiration to the 6 DRC athletes who are running in London tomorrow.

Well done Rob!!! We are all proud of you

JOSHILA CONQUERS THE COMRADES MARATHON

Huge congratulations to Joshila who executed the perfect race yesterday to complete the Comrades Marathon in an awesome time of 10hrs 14mins and 2seconds!

We have been building towards this goal race for a long time now, since she smashed the Two Oceans 56K ultra in Cape Town back in April.

With Joshila being South African and it being her first time attempting this race, we HAD to get it right and do our homework!! No pressure then!!

During her training block, we gradually moved through key training phases to ensure that we arrived at the last few weeks of training with everything focused on being really specific to this race.

Working together and drawing on loads of data and knowledge from different sources about the race itself, also allowed us to prepare her for the challenges that lay in wait, so that she was fully-primed to execute the race plan we put in place.

It’s fair to say that she absolutely nailed it from start to finish!! Andy’s never been so nervous ‘dot-watching’ as he tracked her through each checkpoint!!

ROBYN AND GRAHAM RUN STRONG OVER 10K

Huge congratulations to two of our DRC athletes who smashed their 10K races this weekend.

Robyn ran in the Hull 10K following a really strong and consistent build-up and will continue to put the training miles in ahead of the Leeds 10K in July and the Great North Run in September.

Graham ran in the Richmond Park 10K as a key stepping stone in his London Marathon build-up and kept it strong to the finish, putting down a really solid marker ahead of the next phase of training.

Both of them battled through the hot conditions on Sunday to put together impressive performances and at opposite ends of the country.

Our DRC community is really proud of you and look forward to seeing you smash it up in your other races this year.

JOSHILA PB'S AGAIN IN THE MANCHESTER MARATHON

SHE’S DONE IT AGAIN!!!

Massive congratulations to DRC athlete Joshila who ran the Manchester Marathon in a new PB time of 4hrs 13mins 38seconds!!

This was a PB of…(wait for it!)…19 mins and 3 seconds!!! Her last PB was in London last October - what a difference 6 months makes!

This PB comes just 5 weeks after Joshila claimed a 5 min 41 seconds PB at the Brighton 1/2 Marathon.

This is a fantastic achievement and it just goes to show what hard work, determination and great race prep can do.

The DRC community couldn’t be more proud of you (again!), Joshila!!

GREAT RUNNING BY DRC ATHLETES IN FLEET 1/2 MARATHON

Well, what a weekend!!!

The DRC crew were out in force at the Fleet Half Marathon and many in their new tops. PB’s and target times getting ripped up and smashed out of the park!!!

In no particular order…

After major ankle surgery, Rich took 4 minutes off his time from Farnborough 2 months ago on his return to racing from 1.59 to 1.55.17.

Chloe aiming for sub 2 in her first half marathon having completed her first marathon last year, saw her run consistent miles and a very well deserved 1.55.07.

Sarah joined DRC group sessions at the turn of the year to help with training for her first HM and not only raised a huge amount of money for her chosen charity but flew round in 2.21.

Emma P has been managing knee, calf and ankle issues but got to the start line in one piece and having run 1.56.02 is getting back to her best from 2018.

Another to join the group sessions in her prep was Von. Running high on confidence and a 10km PB in the autumn smashed her HM PB by 5 mins 1.49 to 1.44.

Another debut was Mark, knowing that sub 2 was possible in a training run we were aiming for something quite a bit quicker and he didn’t disappoint with a cracking 1.49.34.

Sergio came to us for coaching and advice having run the Farnborough Half last year in 1.59. Although his PB is much quicker we put together a plan to get close to his best. 1.35.37 was the result.

Finally Emma M, who has the Brighton Marathon in 3 weeks and was using this as a training run. She flew and was less than a minute off her best with no taper and a lot of miles in the legs.

EMMA AND GRAHAM SMASH 30 MILE CHARITY CHALLENGE

Emma and husband Graham completed their 30 mile trail run today for the amazing charity Dreams Come True. With the weather staying kind and the trails looking amazing, they were able to stay strong throughout and complete this amazing challenge with support from friends, family and the DRC community.

The charity Dreams Come True help to enrich the lives of children with serious and life limiting conditions by fulfilling their dreams. It's fair to say that we are extremely proud of their achievement.

VICKI SHINES IN THE CYPRUS 1/2 MARATHON

Huge congratulations to DRC athlete Vicki who absolutely smashed it in the Cyprus 1/2 Marathon.

Despite the weather conditions - wind, rain, hail and even…snow (!), Vicki stormed to a fantastic time of 1hr 57mins 38seconds!!

What made this even more special was that it was Vicki’s 1st ever 1/2 marathon!

As well as being a DRC athlete, Vicki is also Clinic Manager The Body Reset Clinic in Hartley Wintney who we have a business partnership with.

The DRC community couldn’t be more proud of your achievement this weekend and we look forward to seeing some more great performances in the future.

JOSHILA SMASHES HER PB IN THE BRIGHTON 1/2 MARATHON

Huge congratulations to DRC athlete Joshila who ran the Brighton 1/2 marathon yesterday in a new PB time of 1:58:00!!

This was a PB of…(wait for it!)… 5mins 41 seconds!!! What was just as impressive were the PB’s that also fell along the way

This is a fantastic marker put down on our journey towards Joshila’s first goal race of 2022 - the Manchester Marathon in April.

The DRC community couldn’t be more proud of you, Joshila!!
